Having got some decks in 1994 Mr Cut set about the task of learning how to DJ. Winning favour with tapes getting airplay in his mates cars Mr Cut eventually sorted out a (fairly) regular weekly slot at a local (read shit) niteclub on a thursday night. However, due to a total lack of organisation and promotion the night died a slow and painfull death, no more playing out for a while.

Then came the DJ competition seen in a local record shop, once again Mr Cut's tape did the dirty work and he was transported to the finals. Upon arriving at the finals Mr Cut then had to sit through two hours of banging Drum n Bass before playing his "house" set to an unsuspecting and unresponsive audience. Needless to say He didn't win. There was a definite lull at this point, the odd mates party/college do type thing but nothing with any regularity. He drifted between styles, mixing up deep house with whatever else fitted (and got some funny looks from the people in the record shop for his troubles - thank you Massive Records).

Things were looking pretty grim...
